If I could leave NO STARS I WOULD!!! I am usually head over heels for Pho but definitely NOT from here!!! The food was very disappointing. The service was HORRIBLE!! The place was not busy and it still took a long time for them to give us the menus. The soups were a big portion but the flavor was lacking. The "beef" in my soup was purely fat. They pretty much just dropped everything onto our table as if they were bothered by us. It also seemed dirty. Although the door was closed and they didn't have windows opened, there was A LOT of flies. I've been to other places in Chinatown that are way better and cheaper. Our bill was nearly $40 for two soups and two orders of egg rolls. Overpriced and not worth it. Would not recommend. Don't waste your time or money here!!! Not children/ Family friendly.
Good place to eat. There are better places im sure but the service was great and a lively atmosphere.
Gigantic Bowls full of deliciousness
Huge bowls for a good price. Minus a star because they have items on their menu that they no longer have. Awesome fish oil mix to go with it.
Nice, cozy place to enjoy an meal.
The food here is very hit and miss for me. Very inconsistent. Service is great. Portions are huge, priced well. I give it 4 stars still just because when their bun bo hue is on point it's the best in Chicago.
The service was great. Very fast and friendly staff, the bun bo hue was amazingly yummy and so was the pho combo. The food portions were perfect for the price.
As expected from the name of this place, it has amazing pho noodles here. It'll make you full and make you feel refreshed as it's really hearty. Prices are slightly above average but you'll get full. Place is clean and plain. Servers are good too.
Very nice restaurant but you have very long time for your food
Not really Vietnamese. The banh xeo was OK, the pho disappointing
To me, the broth and the beef skewer were too salty for my taste or would have been perfect. The drinks are yummy and perfect balance of sweet and refreshness.
Personally I think this is the best pho place in Chinatown.
One of the best spots for pho in the south loop area.
If it was based off food alone, I would give it 5 stars. It’s so good! Big portions. I can never finish. However, the service is horrible. Susie feels like I’m a bother to her whenever she serves me. Whether it be busy or slow. I’m thinking of just doing take out to avoid it all.
House special is THE BEST!!! Waiter was a bit rude and it took a long time to get our drinks. However, the food itself came quick and was absolutely DELICIOUS!
Awesome place for great priced soups, salads, and more! ðŸ²ðŸ¥—☕ï¸ðŸµ
Big portions for cheap price! I liked the pho and the thai tea was aight, employees had cool shirts that said "what the pho"
I got the #20 spicy pho with crab rangoon as an appetizer. They dont skimp on the portion size and filling of their food here. The crab rangoons were excellent and had great flavor. The spicy Pho was a huge portion and the broth had a very unique flavor. A very good experience and if you're in the area it's worth trying out. I've had better Pho before but I would come back here again.
Worst place I have ever been. We went there for a dinner. After that, my boyfriend and I both got some sort of food poisoning symptoms. He spent all most the whole night in bathroom due to diarrhea. There's definitely something wrong with their food. If I can select 0 star, I will. Don't recommend and will never go.
I got the #22. My original server, Ricky, wasn't really attentive. Another woman was overlooking the restaurant and came to take my order. Pho was yummy, I wish the broth had a stronger beef flavor though. The noodles were delicious but a bit thicker than what I was used to. Will definitely be back. The bowls are huge!
Delicious pho in large portions for a great price! Try their bun bo hue! Definitely worth a try if you haven't tried. The only mark against them is the service, which was slow and error prone. I would have liked to give 5 stars but unfortunately service is part of the experience.I got the bun bo hue, a spicy seafood noodle soup and this place does not dissapoint! A shrimpy broth with lots of noodles and extra. They also add more stuff than other places like fish cakes and blood cakes. A tasty, filling meal for $10 can be hard to find but this place does it!The holding them back is service, maybe we came on an off day. It took a long time for them to come take our order and then like 30 minutes for it to come out. And they forgot one persons order. They got his out fast but it all just felt mildly annoying.Overall great place, give them a try!
If you’re looking for authentic Vietnamese food, this is not a place for you cuz it ran by Chinese. The food was meh, the flavor wasn’t there at all. Not to mention the waitress was rude...Not recommended
Great Pho!!! Fast service and delicious food! Must try again!
Pho was decent, and Bun Bo Hue was acceptable. This restaurant which was used to be Cafe Hoang was struggled to maintain the food quality after its owner had been changed. Apparently, the quality went downhill, but it was still a fine place to have some Vietnamese food if one can make it to Argyle, especially for people who live close to South Side and the Loop. The Vietnamese coffee was quite bad. There was metered parking on the street in front of the restaurant.
DONT GO HERE. They are only in it to scam and harass people. I came here with my friends while visiting Chicago and they were so rude. They outright lied about a $10 MINIMUM for a card purchase after I just saw 3 people pay less than $5 on a card. And then when I explain that I wouldn’t be able to pay for our drinks any other way, they caused a scene and said the police would be called. Don’t go here if you want to have a nice and calm day. If you like being disrespected and bad smoothies, go for it.
Excellent place for Pho fix! Always fresh and delicious! Generous portions! Never disappoints!!!
Decent pho if you can't make it to Argyle on a freezing day or the weekend. The bun no hue was ok, not flavorful nor spicy. The pork chop was not flavorful, but the fried spring roll was crispy.Metered street parking, credit accepted, limited to no service.
This place was busy. The Pho was yummy. We did not get the egg rolls we ordered and had to keep asking for drinks.
First time going here and it was really good. The pho was flavorful and had enough meat and noodles. The spring rolls were also full of rice and shrimp. Bit pricey. But overall good food.
This place was absolutely amazing. From the tea to the complimentary chili cabbage to the eel to the bok choy. Everything was delicious and perfectly prepared. The server even gave us extra cabbage to take home after we raved about it. Vegetarian-friendliness: Five out of five amazings.
This place is in Chinatown Chicago and it was my first time coming here. The pho broth was perfect even without adding more seasoning. My in law ordered a bowl of Bun Bo Hue and said its way better than the ones they tried before in michigan (we are from Michigan). My husband ordered the best seller house special pho bowl and mine was beef. The restaurant is small and customer service couldve been better.
Lots of water and noodles... order seafood 2 shrimp, 4 calamari rings , order meat in 2.50 3 small slices. Order orange juice... gave me crush.. I ask for suggestion since I never been there... was told can't give suggestions... anyways I was done ... ask for my food to go and they throw it away... they make a new one for me and the waitress said to me that I never ask for it to go... kind of upset and walked away. I went we because my friend recommended to me... it was terrible experience. I work in the industry ... I try my best not to complain... but this time I had 2A-Z bad experience overall.
I ordered Tom Yum, it was overspiced! Huge bowl and only 4 shrimp in it, and they were not peeled!!! Also I ordered Shrimp Spring Roll, the rice noodle was overcooked. They gave me only 1 bag of soy sauce for 2 portions of Shrimp Roll. Besides that they dont know how to make peanut sauce, it was pure hoisin with peanuts in it. Horrible experience
Was recommended by the acupuncturist around the corner and it did not disappoint. We got the spicy hue pho. Delcious and hit the spot and bowls are large. Will go back.
The place was quite busy on a Sunday night which I took as a good sign. The Pho Tai was great, very generous and tasty. I would recommend and will certainly visit again.
Wow, the service today was terrible! You shouldn't let paying customers wait so long for their orders!! Especially when its ready and sitting on the counter. Acknowledge the customer with a hello or smile.
Good service great food
Excellent place, clean, and polite and prompt service. This is not just any pho cafe, this is some of the best I've had across multiple states. The broth was perfect, sweet and salty. Plenty of bean sprouts and a very healthy dose of their garlic and pepper mix. Wowza, great flavor! Fresh rolls had warm shrimp, and the iced coffee was good. Will definitely come back.
Good pho place in Chinatown!! Get the house special! Their rice/vermicelli sets are also awesome in my opinion, sometimes even better than pho. Grilled chicken/pork/beef all very good
great pho. i ordered special pho which the most ordered dish. a lot of meat, only down side is not much beef tender that i likef
This is the place to go if you're looking for pho south of the Loop! There's quite a lot of options on the menu, but my friend and I both got the house special pho, and asked to switch out the meatballs for more rare beef, which they did at no extra cost. The bowls were huge, and I almost couldn't finish it. The noodles were not overcooked, the tender (non-rare) beef was good, but I think the soup was just okay and the tendon in my bowl didn't taste very fresh. I would come back because the value is pretty great, and the restaurant is conveniently located close to Red Line Chinatown stop, but if you're looking for a quality bowl of pho, you'd have better luck finding it up in Argyle.
Food tastes just okay. Not authentic Vietnamese at all. It's owned and made by Chinese in Chinatown. Won't be coming back.
Have been here several times 4 lunch & food/service was quite adequate. Not da case last Friday dinner time. The table was sticky, also had 2 ask 4 water 3 times. The fresh Spring Rolls were any thing but FRESH. They stuck 2 each other, wrappers tough & 1 sauce, usually included, had 2 b requested as if I was unaware. The pancake crepe seemed pre made, consistency way off & overly dripping in grease. Fillings skimpy, neary a scallion. Servers never checked 2 c if everything was ok even once. So many other GR8 China Town resto’s 2 patronize. Skip this mediocre one. No gratuity was warranted. Will only revisit 2 present my dry cleaning receipt, stain removal from da sticky table. Diner Beware.....
My taste buds are wanting more my favorite place for Pho!! And the BEST!!
Pho in China Town? Yeap ! Really descent one here with many other semi Vietnamese and Chinese dishes for you to choose from. Pho soup doesn't taste like instant soup base and it is pretty clean . You wanna a fast service - try Pho Cafe. Service staff will deliver your Pho before you finish reading your first email. Thier popular dish is house special Pho.
Not plenty on the menu to choose from. Food served no complaints, it's just average, nothing really to be wowed of.
The soup here is outstanding. Much better than The Noodle on Wentworth. However, the service isn't very good, and the place isn't very clean
Very large bowls, but mostly filled with noodles (they should add more protein). Skimpy on the seafood dishes, but over does it with the chicken. Decent flavor over all.
Service was a little confusing. It was our first time trying Pho and they refused to explain it to us just wanted to take the order. As it is They took along time to take our order. It's as if we were interrupting their day.
Food is decent but service leaves much to be desired
